DECKER, REEVES posted by Rene Tanner on Thursday, June 10, 2004

My Great Aunt (my Great-Grandmother's sister) was married to a DECKER and they lived in Lima, Ohio...She was married very young, and died very young, 5/3/1905 due to complication with childbirth... But, they did had a son named Arnold DECKER. My Great-Aunt Flossie (REEVES) Decker's husband was Marion DECKER. Marion Decker did remarry to a Katherine - I found them in the 1910 Census in Lima, OH...they were living with Marion's parents F.M. DECKER and Flora DECKER....Katherine and Marion had by then another daughter named Doris whom was only 1 year old in 1910.

BISHOP, GOODMAN, GOODWIN, GRISSOM, PILGRIM, SHRIDER, SMITH, SPURLOCK posted by Elizabeth Richards on Sunday, June 13, 2004

I am looking for info on William SHRIDER family… ancestors and descendants. William was born in or around 1861 in Ohio and died in the home of his daughter Effie (md. John SMITH) in Elida, Ohio at the age of 76. Surviving him were a sister ... Emma BISHOP and 3 brothers .. James, Norman and Tom all living in Lima. He was married to Pheobe Jane born 1860 in Ohio (unsure of maiden name .. Mom thought it might be SPURLOCK). Their children are: Walter born in 1880, Levi .. 6/28/1882 (md. Etta Blanche McCURDY) , Ellen ... 1893 (md. George GOODMAN or GOODWIN), Charley ... 1887 (md. Nellie ?), Erma 10/16/1895 (md. PILGRIM)- and Effie ? (md. John SMITH). The family seemed to move a lot .. Lima, Lodi, Allen, Elida. In the early 1900's Walter and Effie remained in Ohio and the rest of the family moved to Clark County, Illinois. William had oil drilling equipment and they followed the Oil Boom. Levi SHRIDER was my Grandfather. Levi and Etta Blanche were married 3/29/1902 in Ohio. Children: Dorothy born 3/6/1903 in Ohio died 7/8/1979 in Illinois (md. Ivan "Bud" GRISSOM), James Sylvester born 12/29/1904 died 11/25/1907 in Lima, Leona born 1/24/1909 in Illinois .. still living in Illinois (md. Noble GRISSOM). Levi's wife, Etta Blanche McCURDY was born 8/20/1881 in Crawford, Ohio and died 11/11/1922 in Clark County, Illinois. I am also looking for info on her family .. very little is known as there was some kind of family squabble and she did not talk about them. Levi and Etta Blanche were married 3/29/1902 in Ohio. Altho he came to Illinois when William came and raised his family here, in later years Levi went back to Ohio. When William died Levi was living at 731 1/2 W. Kibby Street in Lima. My mother received a letter from Levi in November, 1941 stating that he was having problems with his heart but was okay and he was thinking about reopening the store on Kibby and moving back there. The letter was postmarked November 1, 1941 and he died on November 1, 1941! Any info would be greatly appreciated.

HEWETT posted by Anita Hewett-Williams on Saturday, July 3, 2004

I am looking for any information for my uncle, Ulysses (Buster) HEWETT. From what I have uncovered in newspaper articles (Akron Beacon Journal), he was a prisoner at Mansfield Correctional facility sometime between 1927-1934 or 35. From hearsay, there are 2 stories: he was transferred to the hospital wing at Lima State Hospital due to a rupture of his appendix or a bout with TB. He died as a result of one of those. I know that my grandparents were not financially able to claim the body or have it shipped home. Any help or leads would be deeply appreciated.
