LAUER, LOWER, UBERRATER, UBERREITER posted by Blaine Bruner on Tuesday, October 1, 2002

Charles/Carl LAUER/LOWER and Mary UBERRATER/UBERREITER. Charles/Carl shows up in Ohio Detective as being in Allen County and filing intent to Naturalize in 1838 (Duchouquet Township, Auglaize County was then in Allen County). Believed to have married Mary in 1848. Mary may have previously been married to a Uberreiter as a guardianship probate court document in Auglaize County in 1858 after Charles's death shows an Anton Uberreiter as stepson. They also had a son Charles born 1850 and a Daughter Mary born abt 1853. They may have been related to Philip LAUER/LOWER who purchased 40 acres of land just north east of Wapakoneta in 1835 as filed by the Piqua Land Office 10/8/1835. Would appreicate any info on the surnames that seem to fit. I can share what more I have.

HUSTON, RILEY posted by Margaret L. H. Aurand on Tuesday, October 15, 2002

My great grand parents, John M. RILEY and Martha Ellen HUSTON were married on May 13th, 1885 in Allen County, OH, by the Rev. V.B. Riley. (This information is from their marriage certificate, which I have viewed on microfilm. Unfortunately, Allen County marriage certificates of that era list very little other than the names of the parties, county of residence and name of the solemnizing official). I am curious as to what church affiliation the Rev. Mr. RILEY had, and whether he might have been a relative. At the time of their marriage, they were both residents of Allen County, OH. I found John M. and Martha Ellen in the 1930 census living in Paul Twp., Minidoka County, ID. This census listed their birth year (they were the same age) as 1860 in Ohio. John M. RILEY's parents were both listed as being born in Ohio. Ms. HUSTON's parents were born in Ohio and Pennsylvania. They had two sons, both born in Ohio: Howard Huston RILEY, born probably 1890, and John M. RILEY, Jr. The RILEY family lived for a time around the turn of the century in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, CO, before removing to Idaho. Family rumor has it that the RILEYs' forebears were from Northern Ireland originally. That is all I have been able to find out after years of searching. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

VANBODEGUM, WHITE posted by Lisa C. McCuskey on Tuesday, October 15, 2002

I am trying to locate any information about Cornelius and Cornelia WHITE. They were husband and wife and moved to Lima, OH from Patterson, NJ sometime between 1900 and 1925. They had many children ? among them Clara, Grace, Maude, John, Irene and Leonard WHITE. I believe Cornelia WHITE nee VANBODEGUM, died in Lima, OH in the 1940's 0r 1950's. I am not certain of the spelling of her maiden name. Any information about these individuals will be greatly appreciated. I do not know their occupations, place of residence, date of marriage, death, or where they are burried.

BODELL, LEATHERMAN posted by William C. Bodell on Wednesday, October 23, 2002

My Great Grandfather, Samuel A. BODELL, was born in Allen County 13 March 1837. He was buried in the Lafayette Cem in July or Aug of 1906. Samuel A. was married to Catherine A. LEATHERMAN. I am trying to find data on my Great Great Grandfather. In the 1850 Census the family name is miss-spelled as Bodle. At that time Samuel A's father is listed as Samuel and his place of birth is listed as "Ireland" (that ties it down doesn't it). In the 1860 Census the Samuel I seek is no longer listed, leaving one to conclude he died sometime between 1850 and 1860. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

CONWAY, GOTCH posted by Rose Kubiatowicz on Sunday, October 27, 2002

Looking for information on Mathias Owen CONWAY and Hanna Tierney family who lived in Lima. Our ancester went by the name "Owen." They had several children including Ellen Cecelia CONWAY, b. Oct. 21, 1866. Ellen married Charles F. GOTCH in 1884, perhaps in Lima? Another son, Daniel CONWAY (b. 1877) died in a mining accident (in the El Moro mines) about 1887.

CRAIG, FOLK, FOLKS, FOOKES, HAHN, HILL, MUMAUGH, ROMINE, TRACE, TWIGG, URIK, WOOLWEAVER posted by Elaine Sunde on Saturday, November 9, 2002

I'm updating my query from several years ago, reflecting new information (which always leads to new questions)! I initially believed that I was looking for the FOLKS family. However, that appears to have been a corruption of the actual family name which is FOOKES. This family appears on various census, property, and cemetery records in Jackson Twp, Allen County between the years 1844-1936. I'd like to exchange information with anyone researching this family (and/or spouses of the FOOKES sons and daughters). James and Phoebe (TWIGG/WOOLWEAVER?) FOOKES appear on the 1880 census in Lafayette. There were reportedly nine children, all born in Ohio between 1831-1854, possibly in Allen county. Most (all?) of them married in Allen County, probably in Jackson Twp. Their names and identified spouses are: Edwin (died in infancy); Joseph (married Rebecca ROMINE); Elizabeth (m. John HAHN); James Jr (m. Margaret TRACE); Robert (m. Sarah/Sallie MUMAUGH); Mary Emmaline (m. Harvey D. HILL); Martha (m. John CRAIG); Amanda (died as child; buried 1863 at Lafayette); John T. (m. Eva URIK). It is possible that this was a second marriage for James FOOKES Sr. and that some of the above children were by an earlier wife. I'm also trying to verify information that Phoebe's birthname was TWIGG and that she was married, first, to John WOOLWEAVER. If anyone has information on an earlier marriage for James FOOKES or his wife Phoebe, I'd be particularly interested. It's also possible that there are additional members of the FOOKES family in the area that I haven't yet located. Anyone with this surname is likely related. I do have substantial information on the above individuals and would be glad to exchange
